The L 295 Jaw Coupling (often referred to as L295) represents the heavy-duty peak of the standard L-series jaw coupling range. It is a torsionally flexible, fail-safe coupling manufactured from high-grade Cast Iron. Designed for the most demanding power transmission environments, it features massive hubs and a reinforced elastomeric spider. It is specifically engineered to handle the high torque output of large industrial motors and internal combustion engines while providing a critical buffer against mechanical shock.
The L 295 is built for extreme performance. Its ratings significantly exceed those of the L 280, especially when utilizing high-performance spider materials:
| Specification | Synthetic Rubber (NBR) | Polyurethane (PU) | H-Trans / Hytrel |

Outside Diameter (ØA): 232 mm (approx. 9.13")
Max Bore (D): 95 mm (approx. 3.75")
Overall Length (TL1): 238 mm
Hub Diameter (ØB): 175 mm
Length thru' Bore (L1): 92 mm
Gap (G): 4.5 mm
Torque Transfer: Like all jaw couplings, the L 295 works via compression. The driving hub's massive jaws press against the legs of the elastomeric spider, which transfers the force to the driven hub.
Shock Damping: Because of its large surface area and spider volume, it is exceptionally good at absorbing high-magnitude shock loads from heavy-start equipment.
Misalignment Tolerance: It accommodates angular misalignment and parallel misalignment (up to 0.5 mm), reducing the "bending" stress transferred to motor and pump bearings.
Interlocking Security: The "fail-safe" design ensures that if the spider is compromised due to extreme overload, the metal jaws will interlock, keeping the drive connected for safe system management.
Massive Torque Capacity: Capable of handling up to 2,850 Nm, making it suitable for very large industrial drives.
Large Bore Support: A 95 mm maximum bore accommodates the large-diameter shafts found on heavy-duty industrial gearboxes and engines.
Extreme Durability: The cast iron hubs are built for longevity in abrasive and high-impact environments like mining and cement production.
Maintenance-Free: No lubrication required. The coupling is naturally resistant to moisture, oil, and dirt.
Component Protection: By acting as the "weakest link," the low-cost spider protects much more expensive components (like crankshafts or rotors) from damage during a seizure.
The L 295 is used in the most rigorous industrial sectors:
Mining & Heavy Industry: Large-scale primary crushers, ball mills, and massive apron feeders.
Oil & Gas: Heavy-duty mud pumps and large gas compressors.
Marine Power: Main propulsion shafts for smaller vessels or auxiliary generator drives.
Steel Mills: Heavy-duty rolling mill stands and slab-handling equipment.
Utilities: Massive municipal water pumps and wastewater treatment blowers.
The L 295 is the powerhouse of the L-series. With a 232 mm outside diameter and a massive torque rating of up to 2850 Nm, it is designed for critical applications where shaft sizes reach up to 95 mm. It combines the simple, fail-safe reliability of the jaw-coupling design with the rugged strength required for heavy-duty plant operations.
