Key Specifications
- Maximum Torque Capacity: 61,500 Nm
- Maximum Speed: 2,600 RPM
- Bore Diameter Range (shaft bore): 80 mm – 200 mm
- Approximate Outer Diameter: 430 mm
- Weight (approx.): 210 kg
- Misalignment Compensation: Parallel misalignment up to ~2.25 mm, axial float ~5.50 mm, angular misalignment per gear-mesh ~1.5°
How It Works
The coupling consists of two hubs with crowned external gear-teeth mounted on the driving and driven shafts, meshing with two outer sleeves having internal spur gear-teeth. As the driving shaft rotates, torque is transmitted through the meshed teeth to the driven shaft. The crowned-tooth profile and gear-sleeve design allow the coupling to tolerate angular, parallel, and axial misalignments — ensuring smooth power transmission even when shafts are not perfectly aligned.
Benefits
- High torque and power capacity: Suitable for heavy-duty industrial applications due to strong, hardened gear-teeth design and robust forged-steel construction.
- Misalignment tolerance: Accommodates parallel, angular and axial misalignments — reducing stress on shafts and bearings.
- Shock and vibration absorption: Gear coupling design helps damp shock loads and reduces vibration under heavy or fluctuating loads.
- Durability and long service life: Forged-steel hubs and sleeves with hardened and machined gear-teeth ensure reliable performance under demanding conditions.
- Compact and efficient design: Offers high torque transmission in a reasonably compact footprint for its torque class.
- Relatively low maintenance (with proper lubrication): Requires periodic lubrication and inspection to maintain optimal performance and service life.
Typical Applications
- Rolling mills, steel plants, and heavy-metal industry drives
- Cement plants, crushers, conveyors, and heavy material-handling equipment
- Pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, mixers in heavy industrial environments
- General heavy machinery requiring reliable power transmission under misalignment and varying loads
Selection & Installation Considerations
- Ensure driven machine’s power requirement and peak load match the coupling’s torque capacity.
- Check shaft bore diameters for compatibility (within 80–200 mm for FGC 9).
- Confirm shaft speed does not exceed 2,600 RPM for safe operation.
- Allow space for coupling’s outer diameter (≈ 430 mm) and consider misalignment tolerances during installation.
- Adopt proper lubrication (grease or oil as recommended for operating temperature and load conditions) to maintain performance and service life.
- Consider operating conditions (shock loads, vibration, heavy duty) — coupling design suits heavy load and misalignment environments.
Summary
Full Gear Coupling FGC 9 offers a powerful and resilient solution for heavy-duty industrial power transmission. With a high torque capacity of 61,500 Nm, speed tolerance up to 2,600 RPM, and misalignment accommodation (parallel, axial and angular), it is ideal for demanding applications such as rolling mills, cement plants, conveyors, compressors, pumps, and other heavy machinery. Its rugged construction, high torque rating, and maintenance-friendly design make it a reliable choice for long-term industrial use.
