How It Works
The coupling comprises two hubs with crowned external gear-teeth mounted on the driving and driven shafts. These hubs mesh with two outer sleeves having matching internal gear-teeth. As the driving shaft rotates, torque is transmitted through the meshed teeth to the driven shaft, allowing power transmission even when the shafts are not perfectly aligned.
Benefits
- High torque and power capacity: Suitable for heavy-duty industrial applications due to its strong gear-tooth design and robust construction.
- Misalignment tolerance: Accommodates angular, parallel and axial misalignments, reducing stress on shafts and bearings.
- Shock and vibration absorption: Gear coupling design helps damp shocks and vibrations under load variations.
- Durability and long service life: Forged-steel hubs and sleeves with hardened and machined gear teeth ensure reliability even under demanding conditions.
- Compact and efficient: Offers high torque transmission in a relatively compact size for its class.
- Minimal maintenance (with proper lubrication): With correct lubrication and alignment, maintenance needs remain modest and service life is maximized.
Typical Applications
- Rolling mills, steel plants, and other heavy-duty metal-industry drives
- Cement plants, crushers, conveyors, and material-handling equipment
- Pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, mixers in heavy industrial environments
- General heavy machinery requiring reliable power transmission under misalignment or varying loads
Selection & Installation Considerations
- Ensure the driven machine’s power requirement and peak load match the coupling’s torque capacity.
- Check shaft bore diameters for compatibility (within 60–145 mm for FGC 7).
- Confirm shaft speed does not exceed 3,250 RPM for safe operation.
- Allow space for the coupling’s outer diameter (≈ 350 mm) and consider misalignment tolerance during installation.
- Ensure proper lubrication (grease/oil) to maintain performance and service life.
- Consider operating conditions (load variation, shock, vibration) — coupling is suited for heavy loads and flexible operation.
Summary
Full Gear Coupling FGC 7 offers a powerful and resilient solution for heavy-duty industrial power transmission. With a high torque capacity of 37,250 Nm, speed tolerance up to 3,250 RPM, and misalignment accommodation, it is ideal for demanding applications such as rolling mills, cement plants, conveyors, compressors, pumps, and other heavy machinery. Its rugged construction, capacity for heavy loads, and relative ease of maintenance make it a reliable choice for long-term industrial use.
