- Approximate Weight (full-flex version): ~ 3,026 kg
How It Works
The coupling consists of two hubs with crowned external gear-teeth mounted on the driving and driven shafts, along with two outer sleeves having matching internal gear-teeth. As the driving shaft rotates, torque is transmitted through the meshing gear teeth via the sleeves to the driven shaft. The crowned-tooth profile and flexible gear-sleeve design allow the coupling to handle angular, parallel and axial misalignments — ensuring smooth, reliable power transmission even if shafts are not perfectly aligned. Proper lubrication (grease or oil) is required for optimal and long-term performance.
Benefits
- Very high torque capacity: Capable of transmitting large torque — ideal for heavy-duty and high-load industrial applications.
- Misalignment tolerance: Accommodates angular, parallel, and axial misalignments — reducing stress on shafts and bearings under load or thermal shifts.
- Shock and vibration absorption: The gear-coupling design helps damp shock loads and reduce vibration under heavy or fluctuating loads.
- Durability and long service life: Constructed with hardened, machined gear-teeth and robust steel hubs/sleeves — engineered for demanding industrial conditions.
- Compact (for its capacity class): Despite high torque rating and large bore capacity, the coupling remains more compact than many alternative torque-transmission solutions for similar loads.
- Maintenance-friendly (with proper lubrication): Requires periodic lubrication; with correct maintenance, ensures long and stable service life.
Typical Applications
- Steel mills, rolling mills and heavy-duty metal-industry drives
- Cement plants, crushers, heavy conveyors, bulk-material-handling equipment
- Large pumps, compressors, blowers, heavy mixers and large-scale fans under high load or continuous duty
- Mining equipment, aggregate-handling plants, dredging drives, and other rugged industrial machinery requiring high torque and misalignment tolerance
- Any heavy-load industrial machinery requiring reliable, flexible power transmission under harsh conditions or varying loads
Selection & Installation Considerations
- Ensure the driven machine’s power and peak load requirement match coupling’s torque capacity (~ 710 kN·m for FGC 19).
- Check shaft/hub bore diameters to be within approx. 300–460 mm or as per custom bore-sleeve for proper fitment.
- Confirm shaft speed does not exceed ~ 950 RPM for safe operation and longevity.
- Allow sufficient clearance for coupling’s outer diameter (≈ 1,250 mm) and ensure it fits within the mechanical layout and alignment envelope.
- Use proper lubrication (grease or oil per operating conditions) and schedule regular maintenance to maintain performance and prolong service life.
- Design for possible shaft misalignment (angular, parallel, axial) — ensure alignment within coupling’s allowable limits to avoid premature wear.
Summary
Full Gear Coupling FGC 19 delivers a high-capacity, heavy-duty coupling solution — capable of transmitting ~ 710 kN·m torque, for shaft bores ~ 300–460 mm, and operating up to ~ 950 RPM. Its robust gear-coupling design, high torque rating, misalignment flexibility, and shock absorption make it well-suited for demanding industrial applications such as steel mills, cement plants, mining drives, heavy conveyors, crushers, compressors/pumps, and other heavy-load machinery. With proper installation, correct alignment and periodic lubrication/maintenance, FGC 19 offers reliable, long-lasting power transmission under strenuous industrial conditions.
