Key Specifications
- Nominal / Maximum Torque Capacity: ~ 275,000 Nm
- Maximum Speed: ~ 1,550 RPM
- Bore Diameter Range (shaft bore): 160 mm – 330 mm
- Approximate Outer Diameter: 680 mm
- Suitable Shaft Max Diameter: up to ~ 330 mm
How It Works
The coupling comprises two hubs with external crowned gear‑teeth mounted on the driving and driven shafts, and two outer sleeves with internal spur‑teeth matching the hubs. As the driving shaft rotates, torque is transmitted through the meshed teeth to the driven shaft. The crowned‑tooth profile and gear‑sleeve design allow the coupling to tolerate angular, parallel and axial misalignments — ensuring smooth power transmission even if shafts are not perfectly aligned.
Benefits
- Very high torque and power capacity: Suitable for extremely heavy‑duty industrial applications with large load demands.
- Misalignment tolerance: Accommodates angular, parallel and axial misalignments, reducing stress on shafts and bearings under load or thermal shifts.
- Shock and vibration absorption: Gear‑coupling design helps damp shock loads and reduce vibration under heavy or fluctuating loads.
- Durability and long service life: Forged‑steel hubs and sleeves with hardened, precision‑machined gear teeth ensure reliable performance under demanding conditions.
- Compact for its torque class: Offers high torque transmission in a relatively manageable size compared to alternative solutions with similar capacity.
- Well suited for heavy‑load industrial environments: Ideal for heavy machinery, large drives, steel mills, mining equipment, heavy conveyors, crushers, and other large‑scale industrial transmission applications.
Typical Applications
- Rolling mills, steel plants, and heavy‑duty metal‑industry drives
- Cement plants, crushers, conveyors, heavy material‑handling equipment
- Pumps, compressors, blowers, large‑scale fans, and other heavy‑duty industrial machines
- Mining equipment, aggregate processing, and other rugged industrial drives with high torque and possible shaft misalignment
- Any heavy‑load industrial machinery requiring reliable power transmission under severe conditions, misalignment, or heavy torque demand
Selection & Installation Considerations
- Ensure driven machine’s power requirement and peak torque demand correspond to coupling’s torque capacity (~275,000 Nm).
- Verify shaft bore diameters and shaft diameters are compatible (within ~ 160–330 mm range for FGC 13).
- Confirm shaft speed does not exceed the coupling’s rated speed (~ 1,550 RPM).
- Allow sufficient space for coupling’s outer diameter (~ 680 mm) when designing shaft alignment and housing layout.
- Ensure proper lubrication (grease or oil) and regular maintenance to maintain performance and prolong service life.
- Consider operating environment — load fluctuations, shocks, misalignment — where coupling’s robust design and flexibility will be beneficial.
Summary
Full Gear Coupling FGC 13 is a powerful and heavy‑duty coupling solution capable of transmitting up to ~ 275,000 Nm with bore range 160–330 mm and speed up to ~ 1,550 RPM. Thanks to its geared flexible design allowing for misalignment and shock absorption, FGC 13 is ideal for large-scale industrial drives, mining, steel mills, conveyors, crushers, heavy pumps/compressors, and other demanding heavy‑load applications requiring reliable, long‑lasting power transmission.
