Key Specifications
- Nominal / Maximum Torque Capacity: ~ 88,800 Nm
- Maximum Speed: ~ 2,600 RPM
- Suitable Bore Diameter Range (shaft bores): ~ 65 mm – 150 mm
- Outer Diameter (approx.): ~ 490 mm
- Weight (approx.): ~ 310 kg
- Misalignment / Compensation Capability: Parallel misalignment up to ~2.25 mm, axial float ~1.0 mm, angular misalignment per gear mesh ~1.5°
How It Works
The coupling includes two hubs with external crowned gear-teeth, mounted on the driving and driven shafts. These hubs mesh with two external sleeves having matching internal teeth. As the driving shaft rotates, torque is transmitted through the meshing teeth to the driven shaft. The crowned-tooth profile and gear-sleeve design allow the coupling to tolerate angular, parallel, and axial misalignments — enabling smooth power transmission even if shafts are not perfectly aligned.
Benefits
- Very high torque and power capacity: Makes it suitable for extremely heavy-duty applications and high load demands.
- Misalignment tolerance: Accommodates angular, parallel, and axial misalignments — reducing stress on shafts, bearings, and connected machines.
- Shock and vibration absorption: Gear-coupling design helps damp shock loads and minimize vibration under heavy or fluctuating loads.
- Durability and long service life: Robust construction (forged steel hubs/sleeves with machined gear teeth) allows reliable performance under harsh industrial conditions.
- Compact and efficient for its torque class: Offers high torque transmission in a relatively manageable size for heavy-load applications.
- Maintenance-friendly (with proper lubrication): Requires regular lubrication and inspection to maintain performance and longevity; proper maintenance helps avoid premature wear.
Typical Applications
- Rolling mills, steel plants, heavy metal-industry drives
- Cement plants, crushers, conveyors, and heavy material-handling systems
- Pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, mixers — heavy-duty or continuous-service machinery
- Mining, aggregate handling, and other rugged industrial drives with high torque and possible shaft misalignment
- Any heavy machinery requiring reliable power transmission under variable loads, misalignment, or harsh operating conditions
Selection & Installation Considerations
- Ensure the driven machine’s power requirement and peak load match the coupling’s torque capacity.
- Check shaft bore diameters for compatibility (within ~ 65–150 mm for FGC 10).
- Confirm shaft speed does not exceed the coupling’s maximum RPM rating (~ 2,600 RPM).
- Allow sufficient space for coupling’s outer diameter (~ 490 mm) and ensure coupling fits within design envelope.
- Plan for proper lubrication (grease/oil) and regular maintenance — essential for smooth operation and long service life.
- Ensure that expected shaft misalignments (angular, parallel, axial) do not exceed coupling’s compensation capacities at installation and during operation.
Summary
Full Gear Coupling FGC 10 is a heavy-duty, high-power gear coupling designed for transmitting large torque — up to ~ 88,800 Nm — reliably under demanding industrial conditions. With a robust build, large torque capacity, misalignment accommodation, and vibration/ shock absorption, it is ideal for rolling mills, cement plants, mining, crushers, heavy conveyors, pumps, compressors, and other heavy-load machinery. With proper installation, alignment, and lubrication, FGC 10 provides long-lasting, efficient power transmission for industrial drives.
